Colossians 1:15-23a
15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. 18 Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross. 21 This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. 22 Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. 23 But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it.

Scot McKnight
Adaptability of message and lifestyle is a theme written into the fabric of the ongoing development of the Bible itself. God spoke in: Abraham’s days in Abraham’s ways (walking between severed animals); in Moses’ days in Moses’ ways (law and ceremony); in David’s days in David’s ways (royal policies); in Isaiah’s days in Isaiah’s ways (walking around nude for a few years); in Ezra’s days in Ezra’s ways (divorcing Gentile spouses); in Jesus’ days in Jesus’ ways (intentional poverty); Peter’s days in Peter’s ways (strategies for living under an emperor); John’s days in John’s ways (dualistic language—light and darkness). Adaptability and development are woven into the very fabric of the Bible. From beginning to end there is a pattern of adopting and adapting.” — Excerpt From: Scot McKnight, “The Blue Parakeet.” Chapter 10. Zondervan, 2008. iBooks.

Jerome Ellison
The relief of being accepted by God as a sinner can never be known by one who never thought himself unaccepted or sinful. And yet today one is always hearing of “good Christians.” There were no good Christians in the first church, only sinners.

Romans 5:6-11 (Scripture Reading)
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

The message of the gospel of His grace was given to the church in clear and distinct lines, that the world should no longer say that Seventh-day Adventists talk the law, the law, but do not teach or believe Christ. — Testimonies to Ministers, p.93

Ellen White

There is one great central truth to be kept ever before the mind in the searching of Scripture—Christ and Him crucified. Every other truth is invested with influence and power corresponding to its relation to this theme. It is only in the light of the cross that we can discern the exalted character of the law of God. The soul palsied by sin can be endowed with life only through the work wrought out upon the cross by the Author of our salvation. - Manuscript 31, 1890

Ellen White

Of all professing Christians, Seventh-day Adventists should be foremost in uplifting Christ before the world. The proclamation of the third angel's message calls for the presentation of the Sabbath truth. This truth, with others included in the message, is to be proclaimed; but the great center of attraction, Christ Jesus must not be left out. — Gospel Workers, 156

Ellen White

Several have written to me, inquiring if the message of justification by faith is the third angel's message, and I have answered, 'It is the third angel's message in verity.'" — Advent Review & Sabbath Herald, April 1, 1890

Christ crucified—talk it, pray it, sing it, and it will break and win hearts. This is the power and wisdom of God to gather souls for Christ. — Testimonies to the Church, vol 6, p.67

Ellen White

Let those whose hearts glow with the Saviour's love, talk of Jesus, dwelling upon his infinite sacrifice in behalf of man. Dwell much upon his second appearing to our world; tell also of his first coming from heaven, his life of constant humiliation and sacrifice. With softened heart and tearful eye, tell the story of his dying upon Calvary's cross, because he loved us, that we might be saved." — Advent Review & Sabbath Herald, December 2, 1890

One interest will prevail, one subject will swallow up every other—Christ our Righteousness. — Advent Review & Sabbath Herald, Dec 23, 1890

Ephesians 4:21 (MSG)
21 My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to Him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus.
