Cars 4 Kidz 2008 A Huge Success!
Labor Day 2008 dawned with the promise of cars, great music, hot dogs and most importantly, raising money to purchase Webkinz for kids with cancer. The abundant sunshine, great cars and generous guests made this event a resounding success. Forty-nine cars were shown at this year's car show and they did not disappoint.
Our volunteers arrived at 7:30 and their numbers grew through out the morning. The stage was prepared, the grills and lemonade stand were setup and the moonwalk and games were in place. The Cars 4 Kidz car show kicked off at 11am with the music of Johnny Rodriguez. Johnny played 50's and 60's music and all requests that came from our guests.
The car show spectators circulated through the lot with their voting cards and listed their top 3 choices. The children also got to pick their favorites and separate awards were given. Finally a group of judges that are highly knowledgeable about classic cars made selections for several categories.
Johnny Rodriguez kept the hits rolling until 3 and then it was time for some burnouts! The Hot Wheels truck did some wheelies across the Toledo Junior Academy parking lot which got the crowd fired up. Then Greg LaPoint pulled out several of his cars and put on a smoke filled burnout show! Check out the pictures for a recap.
Later this week we'll have the winners listed along with photos.
Thanks to everyone that made this year's event such a success!
